Feed The Homeless

Feed the Homeless

Hosted by I am Stella Love. This event is about providing food, toiletries (also known as hygiene items), clothing, and more to the homeless in downtown Atlanta.

Meeting Address: Woodruff Park, 91 Peachtree St, Atlanta, GA 30303

Time: 9:30am - 1:00pm

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • We feed the homeless at the Woodruff Park in Atlanta, GA

  • We distribute items such as hot chocolate or coffee, food, clothing, hygiene kits, and more.

  • If people are able to attend, we ask that they arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the event starts.

  • We confirm volunteer attendance before we depart from the meet-up location. If people are running late or get lost, they should call or text (678) 208-5280.

  • Parking is limited. If you are volunteering with a group, please plan to carpool. If you are volunteering as an individual, please consider carpooling with other volunteers who have extra room.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Intake Forms - Many of our target population are hesitant to provide this information but perhaps a few responses can assist with us compiling the demographics of those we serve

  • Serving Food - Stationary at a table - Must sanitize and use gloves before handling food

  • Food Packaging and Food Distribution - Mobile - May include walking around to pass prepared food trays in plastic bags

  • Curbside Clothing Closet - Set-up and breakdown of clothing stands as well as assistance with sizing and hanger collection

  • Hygiene Kit Distribution - Mobile - Walking around and distributing hygiene packs to the homeless

  • Hot Chocolate Preparation and Distribution - Stationary

  • Social Media Capture - Photos and Videos - Many volunteers are busy working and are unable to capture the experience; however, sharing our event and creating awareness of what we do is a big part of our mission

  • Engagement - Sometimes the homeless just need someone to listen to them. They may have things to say, so it never hurts to take some time and interact with them. They are people too!
